VOLUNTEER | Opportunities & Application

Are you looking to get involved in the Columbia aging community?  Are you interested in a flexible volunteer opportunity?   Or maybe you’re looking for a way to give back to others who’ve helped you?  Volunteering with The FriendShip is a perfect way to do just that!

Volunteers are the backbone of The FriendShip! Volunteers are all ages and come from all walks of life, bringing many unique skills.  There are many rewarding opportunities available, and volunteering is flexible and can be adjusted to fit your schedule and preferences.  All volunteers complete a volunteer training before meeting with members.

Volunteers help FriendShip Members with a variety of tasks including:

  • Transportation to appointments, grocery shopping, religious services, sporting or cultural events, and luncheons/dinners
  • Technology assistance (e.g., help with computers, phones, thermostats)
  • Emotional support/friendly visits
  • Appointment support
  • Household business assistance
  • Minor household maintenance/repair
  • Errand running

  • Complete a personal interview with members of the Volunteer Committee
  • Authorize a confidential background check
